All episodes were a very personal thing stemming from James and his own vision for them. There's that video they did some years back where they're going through old scripts for charity and you see James and Mike commenting on all of the handwritten work they did back then. Ouch, I just KNEW something felt off about a lot of episodes in recent times. Why even bother with special effect scenes like that? I imagine it takes a decent amount of extra time to do and it adds nothing to the video. The CD turned into a person with a CD for a head and James turned into something from the Matrix they shot a couple of time and the video just ended. When he was making the episode did he really think that would be a great joke? I can't imagine him playing the game and getting to that part and thinking, "oh man I'll impose myself into the video like I'm dancing on that dance floor, it will be hilarious!" I didn't even get the ending. One really dumb unfunny part was where he showed some kind of dance floor in the game and then imposed him into the picture like he was dancing on it. The episodes from the last few years though I watch once and then forget about them. I used to go back to the old episodes and re-watch them. It took me awhile to get through the Drake one, I kept pausing it and going to do something else. I finished both but I can't say I was very interested at all.
Is it really that popular for being a bad game? I had a modded Xbox back in the day and still do so I played tons of Xbox games but never even heard of that one. Maybe I'm in the minority here but I've never heard of it before. But now, Drake of 99 Dragons? He said he had a ton of requests to do that game. It was fun in the early days when it was about games he had actually played. He obviously has no interest in the games he is talking about.
Even though Cinemassacre is his creation he is probably under contract from Screenwave to make an AVGN episode every so often. Also the guy from the rental reviews with the beard shows up in the Tomb Raider episode.
At the end of the Tomb Raider episode is a big full screen logo of Screenwave Media. It is obvious he has no passion for making these videos and has to crap one out every now and again. Just the usual complaints, nothing funny, bad acting. I watched them both and I have to say they were not good. Has anybody here seen them yet? They are only on Amazon right now of course but if you happen to have prime you can watch them.
